Dressage Competitions

Olympia introduced the FEI Dressage World Cup Qualifier in 2004, and we are delighted that it has now become a permanent and hugely successful fixture of the show, is sponsored by The Berkeley Group plc and supported by Horse & Hound magazine.

In 2007 the Dressage competition will take place on the afternoon of Monday 17th December (Grand Prix) and the evening of Tuesday 18th December (Kur). Packages for both performances are available including a double ticket / hotel package.

Anky’s Olympics Masterclass

This year the evening of Tuesday 18th will include an additional treat for the audience:Reigning Olympic dressage champion Anky Van Grunsven will reveal some of the secrets that have made her a legend in the sport when she gives a rare glimpse into her success in an Olympian Masterclass.

Two years ago Anky brought the house down at Olympia as a competitor with an electric performance when the FEI World Cup™ Qualifier was staged in London in front of an ecstatic Christmas audience.

Famed as the ’Queen of the K’ Anky’s habit of winning freestyles is no accident. In 1996 she competed with the first originally composed freestyle music for a horse, Bonfire’s Symphony, and won individual Olympic silver. She has worked with the same composers - Victor Kerkhof and Cees Slings - ever since.

Unique Showcase of Dressage Stallions

In addition to the Masterclass, on the evening of 18th December, Olympia will also be the proud showcase of five breeding stallions presented by Kilbees Farm Stud in Partnership with Paul Schockemohle, and the Westphalian State Stud and the German FEI judge Christoph Hess will come together in a display of ’Breeding for Success’ at Olympia The London International Horse Show.

In this unique showcase of dressage stallions, sponsored by The Berkeley Group, Herr Hess, a renowned international judge of young horses, will assess the ingredients required for breeding the successful competition horse highlighting the mix of pedigree, conformation and performance that together make the potential grand prix dressage horse.

’This is a wonderful opportunity to see some of the best dressage stallions in the World, the perfect illustration of what we in Britain should be striving to produce through our own breeding programmes" said Chairman of British Dressage and International judge Jennie Loriston-Clarke also a successful breeder of international competition horses. "We are very lucky that Mr and Mrs Pidgely have committed to investing in the future of British breeding through their investment of these wonderful stallions giving British breeders access to valuable and successful bloodlines."
