As the official charity for Olympia 2009, the Brooke would like to thank Olympia’s attendees and exhibitors for their wonderful support of the Brooke during the week long event.

The Brooke had a fantastic week managing the charity stand, shopping drop off point and special charity performance – it was the perfect finale to the Brooke’s 75th anniversary year.

Thanks to your generous donations and support, the Brooke surpassed its fundraising goal and raised a fantastic £15,769 to fund a Brooke mobile veterinary team in Mardan, Pakistan for one year.

The Mardan team will travel thousands of miles in harsh environments to provide vital medical treatment to critically sick or injured animals when and where they need it, reaching over 9,500 working horses and donkeys in 2010.

They will show owners that by treating their animals with the care and respect they deserve, their horse or donkey will be more productive and will provide many years of faithful service. Our teams’ hard work and dedication eases not just the suffering of the working animal, but also the poverty of animal owners in some of the world’s poorest places.

The Brooke is the UK’s leading overseas charity dedicated to alleviating the suffering of horses, donkeys and mules working in the poorest parts of the world, and improving the lives of the poor people who depend on them for their livelihoods.

Millions of these animals toil in some of the world’s toughest environments, but much of their suffering is entirely preventable. Our network of mobile vet teams, field clinics and community animal health workers provide care and treatment in conjunction with education and training to promote good animal welfare practices.
