Boyd stayed ahead of home driver and favourite Jozsef Dobrovitz (HUN) and Stuttgart-winner Koos de Ronde (NED), but it was by no means a certainty that Boyd would win. Boyd’s experienced leader horse – 17 year old Spitfire didn’t pass the first horse inspection due to a minor injury to his foot and Boyd was forced to put his spare wheeler horse in at lead. Koos de Ronder (Ned) drove his team of Lipizzaners to a well deserved second place.
Both Boyd and Koss will be taking part in the Extreme Carriage Driving competition at Olympia this year (Thursday 15th evening and Friday 16th afternoon).
